Appendices must be numbered with Roman numerals, according to the style
guide published by the university's librairy. Did you follow the
instructions of the class from the manual? It states:
\appendicesx Marks the beginning of the appendices. The \chapter
command should not be used anymore, use \appendix instead. It also
changes the behavior of \section and \subsection so that the word
``Appendix'' is prepended to it.
