[POTKU] New version is Potku is currently under development

Dear Potku e-mail list readers,

Potku as it is

is currently being upgraded to "Potku 2.0". 

The main effort is actually concentrated for integrating MCERD into the Potku.
MCERD is Monte-Carlo simulation program for the simulation of IBA measurements. Earlier, not complete GUI versio has been in:
https://www.retired.jyu.fi/fysiikka/en/research/accelerator/abasedmat/software
and the main article about the MCERD is:
K. Arstila, T. Sajavaara, J. Keinonen, Nucl. Instr. and Meth. B 174 (2001) 163.

The Potku 2.0 development is done together with Information Technology department, in a so called software development program, where IT students are the actual work force.

First working version is expected to emerge before summer, but Potku with MCERD will most likely be released to public not before September 2018. The development however will be put to the github also earlier, but it is suggested not to interfere with the development before the first public release version.

Emphasis will also be put to the installation procedure of the software, which was one of the problems in the earlier versions.

Bugs and development suggestions, which are not yet listed in the .txt file found from the packages:

are welcomed to this list and to me.
