*Haluaisitko olla mukana valmistelemassa IT-tiedekunnan dekaanin valintaa
1.1.2026 alkavalle kaudelle?*

*Would you like to be involved in preparing the selection of the Dean of
the IT Faculty for the period starting 1.1.2026? **(in English below)*

Nykyinen hallintokausi on päättymässä 31.12.2025 ja uusien hallintoelinten
on määrä aloittaa 1.1.2026. Yliopisto on antanut tiedekunnille ohjeet
dekaanivalintojen organisoimisesta.

Tiedekuntaneuvostojen tulee asettaa viimeistään kesäkuun loppuun mennessä
dekaanivalintaa valmisteleva ryhmä. IT-tiedekunnan tiedekuntaneuvosto
valitsee valmisteluryhmän kokouksessaan 17.6.2025.

Valmisteleva ryhmä mm. valitsee haastatteluun kutsuttavat, haastattelee
dekaanikandidaatit ja tekee tiedekuntaneuvostolle perustellun esityksen 2–3
henkilöstä dekaanin tehtävään. Ryhmän kokoonpanossa on oltava edustettuina
YOL 15 §:n 2 momentissa tarkoitetut yliopistoyhteisön ryhmät eli:

   1. professorit (ml. Associate Professor -nimikkeiset apulaisprofessorit),
   2. muu opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstö ja muu henkilöstö sekä
   3. opiskelijat.

Ryhmän koko on tiedekuntaneuvoston harkinnassa. Ryhmän sihteerinä toimii
kyseisen tiedekunnan HR partnerin roolissa toimiva henkilö. Dekaaniehdokas
ei voi toimia valmistelevan ryhmän jäsenenä.

Rehtoreilla on oikeus olla kuulemassa haastatteluja. Haastatteluajankohdat
toimitetaan tätä tarkoitusta varten tiedoksi asiantuntija Marjo Havilalle.
Lisäksi suositellaan, että tiedekunta järjestää myös dekaanikandidaattien
paneelikeskustelun.

Informaatioteknologian tiedekunnan tiedekuntaneuvosto linjasi 13.5.2025
kokouksessa perusteet dekaanin valintaa valmistelevan ryhmän valinnalle:

   - valitaan kustakin henkilöstöryhmästä 2 edustajaa ja opiskelijaryhmästä
   1-2 edustajaa (yhteensä 5-6 edustajaa)
   - kaikilla IT-tiedekunnan henkilöstön jäsenillä ja opiskelijoilla on
   mahdollisuus ilmoittaa halukkuutensa osallistua dekaanin valintaa
   valmistelevaan ryhmään

Samassa kokouksessa tiedekuntaneuvosto päätti myös valtuuttaa kesäkuussa
valittavan valmistelevan ryhmän päättämään tarkemmin dekaanipaneelin
järjestämisen yksityiskohdista ja tarkentamaan paneelin ajankohdan (vko 38:
ma 15.9. tai ke 17.9.).

*Dekaanivalinnan aikataulu:*

   - *Valintaa valmistelevan ryhmän järjestäytyminen, kun
   tiedekuntaneuvosto on 17.6.2025 tehnyt päätöksen ryhmän kokoonpanosta
   (ITK).*
   - Hakuaika dekaanin tehtävään: hakuilmoitus julkaistaan 2.6. ja hakuaika
   päättyy 15.8.2025.
   - *Valmisteleva ryhmä: hakemusten läpikäynti, haastateltavien valinta,
   dekaanikandidaattien haastattelut, dekaanipaneeli, esityksen valmistelu ja
   toimittaminen tiedekuntaneuvostolle (15.8.-18.9.).*
   - *Valmistelevan ryhmän tulee toimittaa tiedekuntaneuvostolle tiedoksi
   dekaanihakemukset ja perusteltu ehdotus 2-3 henkilöstä dekaanin tehtävään
   käsiteltäväksi tiedekuntaneuvoston syyskuun kokoukseen.*
   - *ITK: kokous ti 23.9., aineiston toimitus viimeistään to 18.9.*
      - Kaudelle 2026-2029 valittava tiedekuntaneuvosto kokoontuu
   välittömästi vaalin tuloksen selvittyä (tulokset: 2.10.) ja antaa
   (istuvalle) tiedekuntaneuvostolle oman näkemyksensä valintaa valmistelevan
   ryhmän ehdotuksesta 13.10.2025 mennessä.
   - (Istuva) tiedekuntaneuvosto tekee rehtorille lopullisen perustellun
   ehdotuksensa 2-3 henkilöstä tiedekunnan dekaanin tehtävään tasa-arvo
   näkökulma huomioiden 22.10.2025 mennessä.
   - Rehtori pyrkii nimeämään dekaanit lokakuun 2025 loppuun mennessä.

Dekaanin valintaa valmistelevan ryhmän työskentely painottuu elo-syyskuulle
2025, erityisesti dekaanin tehtävän hakuajan päättymisen ja
tiedekuntaneuvostolle tehtävän esityksen määräajan väliselle ajanjaksolle
(15.8.-18.9.2025). Valmistelevassa ryhmässä toimimisen arvioitu työmäärä on
noin 10-20 tuntia valintaprosessin kuluessa (voi muuttua hakijamäärästä
riippuen).

Current term of office will end on 31.12.2025 and new governing bodies are
due
to start on 1.1.2026. The University has issued instructions to the
faculties on how to organize the selection of deans.

Faculty Councils must set up a group preparing the selection of the dean by
the end of June at the latest. The Faculty Council of the Faculty of IT
will select the group preparing the selection of the dean at its meeting on
17.6.2025.

The preparatory group selects the candidates to be invited for interviews,
interviews the candidates and makes a well-founded proposal to the Faculty
Council for 2-3 persons for the position of dean. The composition of the
group must include representatives of the university community groups
referred to in Section 15(2) of the Universities Act:

   1. Professors (including Associate Professors),
   2. other teaching and research staff and other staff, and
   3. students.

The size of the group is at the discretion of the Faculty Council. The
secretary of the group will be the HR partner of the faculty concerned. A
dean candidate cannot be a member of the preparatory group.

Rectors have the right to be present at interviews. For this purpose, the
dates of the interviews will be communicated to Marjo Havila. It is also
recommended that the faculty organizes a panel discussion of the dean
candidates.

The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Information Technology outlined the
criteria for the selection of the group preparing the selection of the Dean
at its meeting on 13.5.2025:

   - 2 representatives from each staff group and 1-2 representatives from
   the student group to be selected (5-6 representatives in total)
   - all IT faculty staff members and students have the opportunity to
   express their interest in participating in the group preparing the
   selection of the Dean

At the same meeting, the Faculty Council also decided to authorize the
preparatory group to be selected in June to decide on the details of the
Dean Panel and to specify the date and time of the panel (week 38: Mon
15.9. or Wed 17.9.).

The timetable for the selection of the Dean:

   - *Organization of the group preparing the selection, once the Faculty
   Council has made a decision on the composition of the group on 17 June 2025
   (ITK).*
   - Application period for the position of Dean: the call for applications
   will be published on 2 June and the application period will end on 15
   August 2025.
   - *Preparatory group: review of applications, selection of interviewees,
   interviews of dean candidates, Dean Panel, preparation and submission of
   the proposal to the Faculty Council (15 August-18 September).*
   - *The preparatory group should submit the dean applications and a
   reasoned proposal for 2-3 persons for the position of dean to the Faculty
   Council for information and to be processed at the September meeting of the
   Faculty Council.*
   - *ITK: meeting on Tuesday 23 September, material to be submitted by
      Thursday 18 September at the latest*
      - The Faculty Council for the term 2026-2029 will meet immediately
   after the election results are known (results: 2 October) and will give its
   opinion to the (current) Faculty Council on the proposal of the selection
   team by 13 October 2025.
   - The (current) Faculty Council will make a final, reasoned proposal to
   the Rector for 2-3 persons for the position of Dean of the Faculty, taking
   into account the equality perspective, by 22.10.2025.
   - The Rector aims to appoint the Deans by the end of October 2025.

The work of the group preparing the selection of the Dean will focus on the
period August-September 2025, in particular on the period between the
closing date for applications for the position of Dean and the deadline for
submitting a proposal to the Faculty Council (15 August-18 September 2025).
The estimated workload for the preparatory group is approximately 10-20
hours during the selection process (subject to change depending on the
number of applicants).
