<p><i>An introduction to Superconducting Spintronics: Interplay

usually referred to as superconducting spintronics. First, I
will discuss, in a general manner, how the interaction between
superconductivity and spin-dependent fields leads to the
emergence of unconventional superconducting states with Cooper
pairs in a triplet state capable of carrying spin.</span></p>
<p style="box-sizing: inherit; --font-size: calc(var(--p2-calc)); --line-height: var(--line-height-p2); --font-family: var(--font-family-body); --font-weight: var(--font-weight-normal); letter-spacing: normal; line-height: var(--line-height); font-weight: 400; font-family: Lato, "Lucida Grande", Tahoma, sans-serif; margin: calc(0rem) calc(0px) calc(1rem); caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration: none;"><span style="font-size: 10pt">In the second part, I will discuss recent advances in
understanding magnetoelectric effects in superconductors,
similar to those observed in conventional spintronics. I will
emphasize the role of symmetry in predicting the effects of
charge-spin conversion, and I will introduce the superconducting
diode effect closely related to the concepts of Phi0-junctions
and anomalous supercurrents.</span></p>

attempt to provide a general overview of the field in this
presentation, offering a historical perspective and highlighting
results obtained from collaborations between my group in San
Sebastián and Tero Heikkilä's group in Jyväskylä.</span></p>
<p>Welcome!</p>
<p> Coffee will be served in the lobby. Although on-site attendance
is the preferred option, you can also join via Zoom. Please do not
send chat messages in Zoom during the talk, except if you need to
tell about a muted speaker. <br>
</p>
<p> Confirmed colloquium talks in the Spring 2024 (you are welcome
to suggest more - there are still a couple of open slots in May):</p>
<p>10.5. Mika Prunnila (VTT): <i>On-chip electron refrigeration for
quantum technology<br>
</i>5.6. (Wednesday!) Arttu Rajantie (London): <i>TBA</i><br>
