<div align="justify">Nepal, a country where people have been enduring
hardships which are difficult to comprehend and are in fact a sad
reflection on all the development agencies that have been claiming progress
over the last decades. The above video, for instance, shows how children
have to risk their lives even to get to school day after day. The river you
see is no ordinary one- This is a Himalayan River which generates
electricity with the power of its current and the video taken is not even a
glimpse of what it is during the monsoons. If this is the scenario for
those who haven’t had to confront the Earthquakes, you can only
fathom what the 800,000 families affected by the Earthquake must be having
to endure.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" align="justify"> The devastating Nepal
earthquake that killed over 9000 people, injured over 25000, destroyed over
800,000 homes and rendered millions homeless, is one year old now. And
contrary to the general belief that life would have become better for the
victims, the situation has worsened and has turned into a mammoth
humanitarian crisis, needing even more attention than when the calamity had
struck. Although, nothing worthwhile in reprieve has happened, several new
emergencies have hit them harder. In fact, victims including thousands of
children and widows, whose houses were completely destroyed by the horrific
earthquake, have already had to endure the hardships of the monsoons and
the winter in tents and makeshift shelters and even today, despite being
hungry, sick and frail are being pushed to their limits with another
monsoon approaching. It’s pitiful to be hungry and homeless for even
a day so one can only fathom what it feels like to experience it for a
year, and still await respite. With homes flattened, jobs lost and no food
and medicines for survival, the milieu have gone through all kinds of
hardships dwelling in ransacked tents - monsoons, floods, landslides, chill
winters, avalanches, economic blockade, sickness, et al. Even the tents
providing temporary shelters have worn out! Millions of people spending the
monsoons in tents is nothing short of a grave shame to humanity. There is
an urgent need for action to end this misery as yet another monsoon has
arrived and the cycle reinitiates once again. Please let the survivors of a
natural disaster not die only because no one cared enough. They need help
and they need it now! Humanity beckons you!<o:p></o:p></div>
